چکیده

INTRODUCTION The analytical stability lobe diagram offers a predictive capability for selecting stable chip width-spindle speed combinations in machining operations [1-4]. However, the increase in allowable chip width provided at spindle speeds near integer fractions of the system’s dominant natural frequency is diminished substantially at low spindle speeds where the stability lobes are closely spaced. Fortunately, the process damping effect can serve to increase the chatter-free chip widths at these low speeds. This increased stability at low spindle speeds is particularly important for hard-to-machine materials that cannot take advantage of the higher speed stability zones due to prohibitive tool wear at high cutting speeds.

Concerning the Effect of a Viscoelastic Foundation on the Dynamic Stability of a Pipeline System Conveying an Incompressible Fluid

In this paper, we present an analytical method for solving a well-posed boundary value problem of mathematical physics governing the vibration characteristics of an internal flow propelled fluid-structure interaction where the pipeline segment is idealized as an elastic hollow beam conveying an incompressible fluid on a viscoelastic foundation. The effect of Coriolis and damping forces on the o...

A General Rule for the Influence of Physical Damping on the Numerical Stability of Time Integration Analysis

The influence of physical damping on the numerical stability of time integration analysis is an open question since decades ago. In this paper, it is shown that, under specific very general conditions, physical damping can be disregarded when studying the numerical stability. It is also shown that, provided the specific conditions are met, analysis of structural systems involved in extremely hi...

Analytical and experimental stability investigation of a hardware-in-the-loop satellite docking simulator

The European Proximity Operation Simulator (EPOS) of the DLR-German Aerospace Center is a robotics-based simulator that aims at validating and verifying a satellite docking phase. The generic concept features a robotics tracking system working in closed loop with a force/torque feedback signal. Inherent delays in the tracking system combined with typical high stiffness at contact challenge the ...

Stability Analysis of a Strongly Displacement Time-Delayed Duffing Oscillator Using Multiple Scales Homotopy Perturbation Method

In the present study, some perturbation methods are applied to Duffing equations having a displacement time-delayed variable to study the stability of such systems. Two approaches are considered to analyze Duffing oscillator having a strong delayed variable. The homotopy perturbation method is applied through the frequency analysis and nonlinear frequency is formulated as a function of all the ...

A New Robust Control Design Based on Feedback Compensator for Sssc

In this paper, the modified linearized Phillips-Heffron model is utilized to theoretically analyze asingle-machine infinite-bus (SMIB) installed with SSSC. Then, the results of this analysis are used forassessing the potential of an SSSC supplementary controller to improve the dynamic stability of apower system. This is carried out by measuring the electromechanical controllability through sing...
